Dig Deeper Creatively

Sometimes we need to make a major shift in our routine to make gains in our creativity.

Often, what we need to do to find the deeper artist within us goes against what we want or feel we ought to do. We get focused in on our art and we feel the need to create constantly. Follow the social media world closely so we don’t get left out… left behind. We run at a pace that becomes exhausting and without reward. So, what can you do to make a change?

My thoughts:

  1. Do something you have never done before. Anything that is opposite of what you consider your primary art form. Learn to paint, sketch, work with clay. Be open to new ideas and ways to tap into a new world of creating.

  2. Meditate. It doesn’t have to mean sitting on the floor criss-cross applesauce but find a time of the day to turn off the world around you and sit quietly. Wake up a little earlier in the day and sit in the peace of the morning. Let you heart speak to you.

  3. Find new influences. Being inspired by those we look up to and those in our close creative circle is important but it also can be a detriment. We often begin to compare and ultimately we don’t see anything new or the variety becomes stale. Don’t feel bad if you stop paying as close attention to who you have loved up to this point. There are so many new influencers out there just waiting for you to find them.

  4. Take a break. Rest. Enough said with this one. Spend time with loved ones. Find time to nap and just kick back and relax. Turn it all off.

  5. Pray. We all believe in something or someone. Combine this with #2 and ask for guidance on our journey. You might be surprised on what gets revealed to you.

You are so worth taking the steps needed to find the deeper meaning to your creativity and you were created to do so much more with your talents.
