Never Quit Trying New Things

If we never try new things how do we expect to grow as an artist?

Lately, I have been in a whirlwind of trying new ideas and techniques and even though I am not sure where I will eventually land one thing is for sure. I am having a blast creating and finding my artistic expression. It’s refreshing and taking me in a direction I would have never imagined.

Ways to help you try new things creatively.

  1. Unfollow all your current influencers and follow new people. This will re-engage you creatively and spark your drive for new techniques.

  2. Participate in a photowalk. Organize a photowalk.

  3. Read a book.

  4. Attend a workshop.

  5. Shoot a different genre or style of photography.

  6. Try new software for editing. There many plugins for Lightroom and Photoshop that can open up doors to more creative editing.

  7. Buy some gear (if affordable) to give you a new capability.

  8. Edit your photos in an entirely new way. Don’t just stop with one or two edits. Give it time so you can evaluate objectively what you like/don’t like.

  9. Always share your process.

I challenge you to step outside the box and your comfort zone to try something new creatively.

Never stop exploring.

Never get complacent.
