I know the title of this post seems a little dramatic but the feeling I get when I go to post something and I hesitate to hit the button because I wonder what people will think…
well, that sometimes sucks.
That’s when the feeling of being vulnerable steps in and wants to defeat you. Make you stop sharing a part of you and the all too exciting process leading up to the post.
So, why is it that we are afraid of expressing ourselves to the fullest?
Maybe we have had a bad life experience and someone has harshly critiqued something in the past about us. Maybe the comparison we feel when we spend time on social media tells us we are not good enough. Maybe we feel that our style doesn’t fit in.
Or, maybe the ‘experts’ tell us artists that we should only post our best content, post at the right time of the day, use all the right hashtags, blah blah blah.
Now, I am not saying that heeding to good advice and using certain tactics should be avoided but merely that is what someone else’s voice is telling us.
Our voice told us to go create that.
Our voice told us that we enjoyed the process and we are excited in what we created.
Our voice told us to share it with the world no matter how good others may think it is.
And our voice should be the loudest saying “share it”.
