Do you ‘stick’ to a plan? Or maybe I should ask it this way, do you stick to a ‘long-term’ plan? Long enough to see your success or long enough to know that you should adjust your plan after you gave it an honest effort.
I know that the answer to the question for each of us is subjective and only we know ourselves that we gave all we could and endured long enough to know if we succeeded or need to adjust.
This past year, I had a plan, well actually many, and as I was reflecting on the year and discussing next year with my girlfriend this past weekend she made a comment that stopped me in my tracks.
“You know, I will support you no matter what you do. I am just waiting on you to stick to something.” Well, not her exact words but what resonated with me is that even though I have all these plans and goals and are somewhat successful with some of them, I don’t ‘stick’. I don’t ‘stick’ for the long-term or the bigger picture. I am changing it up too much, too often. A strength that eventually plays against me is I create too many things to focus on instead of narrowing my focus and in the process I lose myself.
My creative journey has been rewarding and has taken me in so many directions last year but for 2019 I need to make a personal commitment to myself and to my creative direction.
Stick to being ME. Stick to the PLAN.
So, what’s your word for 2019?
